Celebrations:
Graduates in the Class of 2025 listed Animation, Band, Medical Anatomy, Business Communication, Welding, Art, PE, and CNA as their top choices for classes!
One Class of 2025 graduate gave high school scholars these words of wisdom: "Spend every moment you can with teachers because they are taking the time to help you learn, and be thankful."
We are actively working to improve daily attendance and also, to help scholars recover their learning when they return from an absence!
NACAP (Native American Composers Apprentice Project) is an opportunity for students in the band or music composition program at WHS to sign up to compose music for string quartets. They will only be able to write their music after school, starting on August 25–29, then on August 30th, they will be leaving for the Grand Canyon to camp and hear what they have composed live. They will be staying up there until August 31. The purpose of NACAP is to connect with talented Native American students in the art of composition. NACAP develops musical literacy and enhances critical thinking and decision-making skills through the study of music composition. It introduces students to European classical music techniques, develops their understanding of their own musical heritages, and teaches them how to use that knowledge to create their own compositional voices!
Gabrielle Dance (President), Mikell Yazzie (Vice President), Isabel Zuniga (Secretary), and Hope Palmer (Treasurer) were elected by their peers in May 2025. They will work with staff, faculty, clubs, and class officers to plan events that promote school spirit and engagement. What inspired these individuals to run for student body office? President Gabrielle Dance shared that she enjoys being involved and wanted to make a bigger impact. Vice President Mikell Yazzie was motivated by seeing past scholars plan events and wanted to have the same experience himself. Treasurer Hope Palmer was encouraged by her past involvement in student council events and looks forward to new opportunities. Secretary Isabel Zuniga said that participating in the majority of the school events inspired her to take on a larger role. With their enthusiasm and spirit, they’re sure to bring the energy and excitement needed for a memorable school year!
