Celebrations:
1. Market Day provided scholars an opportunity to "float a business plan" to see which products and marketing strategies work best!
2. The Readiness Coursework score for WHS is at 98%, which is up from 63% in SY21! (District average is 88% and state average is 82%.)
3. The number of scholars who were receiving English Language (ELL) services and moved to monitoring status is the highest of any SJSD school, which is a direct result of schoolwide efforts with academic language - speaking and writing!
4. The WHS 4-Year Graduation Rate for SY22 was 93%, which is better than the state average of 88%! (NOTE: State reporting lags a full year behind.)
5. The Winter Concert was a showcase of scholar skills and knowledge in the area of music and there was great attendance by scholars, staff, families, and community members!
Academic Focus:
There is a schoolwide effort to help scholars practice speaking skills, to include using descriptive details and academic language. Scholars also get practice in writing with academic language. Many teachers encourage peer-to-peer feedback or provide feedback on scholar writing in an attempt to encourage revisions.
