San Juan School District schools will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, September 18, 2026.
Some students live in areas that continue to be affected by flooding, mud, and impassable roads. Parents of students who are unable to travel safely to school should notify their school's building administrator. These absences will be excused, and students will be provided opportunities to make up missed work
In an abundance of caution, Whitehorse High School will be closed on Thrs. 9/17/26, due to inclement weather and potential for flooding.

Due to heavy rain, muddy conditions, and flooded roads, schools in Bluff, Montezuma Creek, and Monument Valley will be closed on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Students who reside in or around these communities and travel to schools in Blanding will be excused from attendance tomorrow due to unsafe travel conditions.
School bus routes serving Bluff, Montezuma Creek, Monument Valley, and surrounding areas, including routes that transport students to Blanding schools, will not operate tomorrow due to road conditions.
The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

Utah Attorney General’s Student Advisory Council: Applications Open
San Juan School District juniors and seniors have an opportunity to make sure the voices of our communities are heard at the state level.
The Office of the Utah Attorney General is accepting applications for its 2026–27 Student Advisory Council.
Council members meet monthly to:
• Share student perspectives on issues facing the Attorney General’s Office
• Hear from state leaders and legal professionals
• Learn how to make an impact in their schools and communities
Distance is not a barrier. Students from San Juan County can participate in meetings virtually.
We would love to see students from our district and communities represented on the council.
Applications are open to juniors and seniors and close Friday, September 4.

The University of Utah is hosting a Band Camp at WHS for scholars who will be an 8th-12th grader at WHS. The sessions run Monday, August 10, through Wednesday, August 12, from 2-4:30 pm and/or from 4:30-6:45 pm. Partcipants may ride the Late Home Bus which leaves campus at 7 pm (and scholar athletes can attend the sessions each day from 2-4:30 pm and still make athletic practices). The University of Utah is hosting a Band Camp at WHS on Monday, August 10, through Wednesday, August 12. Please register using the QR Code and plan to arrive on Monday, August 10, at 1:45 pm. The sessions run all three days from 2-4:30 pm and/or from 4:30-6:45 pm. (WHS scholars in grades 8-12 for the upcoming school year can check-out their instrument in the Music Room today - July 16 - from 1-5 pm.)
